As hosts and creators of the MOTHERS & DAUGHTERS RACE AGAINST TEEN SMOKING, we'd like to tell you a little about our organization. The National Council on Women's Health (NCWH) is a working partnership of health professionals and consumers whose mission is to educate the public and policy-makers on women's health and empower women to make informed healthcare choices.
Our organization has a 20-year history of providing the most up-to-date and
available women's health educational materials and screening programs
in New York City. Our national membership includes some of the country's
top advocates of women's health. We're currently focusing our energy
into a passionate all-out effort to stomp out smoking and tobacco
use, especially among women and teens.

Race Mission

Each day thousands of kids light up their first cigarette. For many kids it's the first step of a life-long, life-threatening habit. Most of these kids are young girls who, while struggling to establish self-worth and peer acceptance, bend to the pressure to smoke.
Our mission is to provide a means for mothers and daughters (and other meaningful family members and friends) to emerge as community co-leaders in the fight against tobacco addiction, while providing young women with healthier routes to self-esteem.
